David Pound

Statement and bio

Originating from London, England, my exposure to nature was limited. As a child, I would paint animals from books and any borrowed photography I could source. This interest in wildlife has stayed with me into adulthood.

After an autumn visit to New England 20 years ago, I was drawn to Vermont for the crisp and clear landscapes and the abundance of wildlife. My inspiration for my art comes from the nature around me. Living in Vermont provides me with unlimited visual references for my paintings. The countryside influences my choice of colors, themes and backgrounds. I aim to express, through my paintings what I witness everyday in this wonderful state.
